Sontronics DELTA 2 - Rugged Active Ribbon Microphone

DELTA 2 takes Sontronics’ ribbon design and points it at louder, more aggressive sources — guitar amps, brass, anywhere a mic needs to survive close proximity to genuinely high sound pressure levels. It is a phantom-powered ribbon microphone, meaning the internal circuitry actively boosts the ribbon’s naturally low output rather than leaving it to a preamp with buckets of clean gain, so it works well with a much wider range of interfaces and mixers.

Every Sontronics ribbon mic, DELTA 2 included, carries a built-in RFI filter, an unusual inclusion that stops radio-frequency interference from wireless in-ears, transmitters or nearby broadcast equipment leaking into the audio path — useful on a live rig, not only in a shielded studio. The mic is hand-assembled in the UK around a proprietary circuit with a custom-wound transformer, and its rugged build is engineered specifically to withstand being parked in front of a cranked amp night after night.
