Overview

This black-finished STC-3X steps up from the STC-2 with three switchable polar patterns — cardioid, omni and figure-of-eight — built around a dual one-inch, gold-sputtered capsule housed in a large open grille. That pattern flexibility makes it useful well beyond simple vocal tracking: figure-eight for Mid-Side work, omni for room ambience, cardioid for straightforward close miking, all from one microphone.

Tone-shaping controls run deeper too, with a three-position high-pass filter (linear, 75Hz, 150Hz) and a three-position pad (0dB, -10dB, -20dB) giving fine control over louder or bass-heavy sources. The pack bundles a nylon-mesh popshield, spider-style shockmount, five-metre XLR cable and zip-up pouch, and is backed by Sontronics’ lifetime warranty.
