Overview

This silver-finished STC-1S takes two STC-1 small-diaphragm condensers and factory-matches them into a stereo pair, checked against each other for consistent sensitivity and frequency response so the resulting stereo image stays accurate and centred. It uses the same brass-bodied, transformerless Class-A circuit as the standalone STC-1, just supplied and matched specifically for X-Y, ORTF or spaced-pair stereo recording.

Each mic in the pair carries its own -10dB/-20dB pad and 75Hz/150Hz high-pass filter switching, so the whole stereo rig can be adjusted for loud or bass-heavy sources without losing the matching between channels. The set travels in a velvet-lined wooden case complete with an adjustable stereo mounting bar, two mic clips and two foam windscreens, and like the single STC-1, both capsules accept the optional omni and hypercardioid heads.
