Universal Audio Volt 2 Gen 2 USB Audio Interface

The Universal Audio Volt 2 Gen 2 is a USB audio interface with two Tone Shaping preamps, two front-panel Hi-Z instrument inputs and a Smart Display. It converts audio at up to 32-bit / 192 kHz over USB-C.

Two combo XLR/TRS mic/line inputs, each with independent +48V phantom power, and two Hi-Z instrument inputs support recording two sources at once. Every analog input has Tone Shaping with three modes, Warmth, Focus and Shine, and 60 dB of available gain. The Smart Display shows channel levels and settings, Auto-Gain sets a recording level, and Clip Protection limits unexpected peaks before conversion.

The Volt 2 Gen 2 has two monitor outputs and one stereo headphone output. It is USB bus-powered and class-compliant, so it works with Mac, iPad and iPhone without a driver, and with Windows through the ASIO driver in the UA Connect app. Built-in loopback supports podcasting and streaming. The unit works with UAD Console and LUNA, and the UAD Volt Studio Bundle is included.

Universal Audio Volt 2 Gen 2 USB Audio Interface

01Set the level

Auto-Gain sets it in about 10 seconds.

Select a channel, press AUTO and play or sing at your loudest level. Clip Protection applies a hardware limiter before the analog-to-digital converters.

02Choose a tone

Warmth, Focus or Shine.

Each mode applies an EQ curve and harmonic saturation derived from analog hardware, and saturation increases as you add gain.

Technology

Tone Shaping preamps

Three modes. Warmth: tube-style glow with soft transients. Focus: punchy transients with clarity. Shine: a full sound with a silky top end. Each includes an EQ curve and harmonic saturation.

Smart Display, Auto-Gain, Clip Protection

A full-colour display shows inputs, levels and settings. Auto-Gain sets levels; Clip Protection limits peaks before conversion.

Two mic/line and two Hi-Z inputs

Record your vocals and instruments together, or in stereo, with independent 48V phantom power per channel.

Loopback and software
